Shipping vs. Storing - Which One is the Best for You

Moving abroad and relocation into a completely different country are very common these days. Every year, thousands of students flock to the UK (and out of it) to study in the best universities. Every year, people find jobs on the other side of the planet. Every year, people leave jobs to start discovering themselves and the world.
International flights are cheaper than ever, information is more widely spread than ever and the opportunities are more open than ever – and within this context, it is really of no wonder why so many people choose to move abroad (even if just temporarily).

If you have decided to do this as well, you should definitely make sure that the things you own are safe regardless of whether you choose to bring them with you on your new country or if you choose to leave them behind. Depending on your case, you may choose to ship your things upon your arrival, you may choose to rent a storage space and have them stored there or you may choose to go with a man and van hire and to actually travel with your possessions.

Which is the best option for you? This depends only on you and your particular case. However, because we want to help you make this “removal operation” as smooth as possible, we have gathered some of the most important tips you should keep in mind. Read on and find out more.

• Hire a man and van company especially if you are moving in a country that is fairly close to that in which you live at the moment. For instance, if you live right across the border from France and you want to move there for a few months, a man and van hire might come in handy.

• Rent storage space especially if you plan on missing from home for a longer period of time, but not long enough to make furniture removals profitable. For instance, if you are only going to live abroad for a few months, you may not want to bring your furniture with you there – and thus you may want to store it someplace else. Also, if you currently live in rent but you have a lot of personal possessions you don’t want or don’t need to take with you, a storage space may be a good idea.

• If you plan on living abroad for a longer period of time (more than 6 months for example), you should definitely do the math and see which of the alternatives is more cost-friendly in your case. Do take into consideration that you will need a removals company to bring back your furniture and possessions as well!

• Sometimes, shipping your furniture abroad is the best option. If you really want to live in a foreign country for a long period of time, this is the best thing you can do.

• Even if you don’t have furniture to ship, you may find that you will still need to hire professional services. For instance, if you have a desktop computer and several heavier items you can’t take with you on a plane, you will discover that hiring someone to transport those separately is your best and safest bet.

Regardless of what you choose, make sure you do your homework and that you research the various options available. You want to be absolutely certain that your things will be safe (on the road to their new “home” or simply stored back home). Don’t rush, take your time, inform yourself and everything will be just fine!
