The first thing you need to do, before anything else, is to consider the rules and laws in the country you intend to live in. For anyone moving to a country, most countries require a visa. So it is important that you get that sorted out prior to relocating. Then you will not have to deal with all that stress when you arrive. It is always a good idea to look into the laws of the country you wish to move to before you move there. It is one less thing to sort out when you arrive.


Have a plan in action
Making a plan and writing a checklist is invaluable when it comes to moving, so it is always a good idea to get prepared by planning ahead of time. It will add more a framework to your move and just generally make it easier for you. So go ahead and make a plan of action so that your move goes according to plan and runs smoothly. Most of the time, it is the moves without plans that go badly. The ones with a plan usually go rather well.


Pack
Do not forget to pack in advance. Do not, by all means, leave the packing to the last minute. You will certainly regret it if you do. Obviously, it depends on how long you are staying abroad. Perhaps you might even consider closing your old bank account down to save any future problems. Yet again, it depends on the length of time in which you wish to stay. If you plan to keep your existing bank account open, make your bank aware of the fact that you will be out of the country so that your bank account does not get frozen if you are using it from abroad.


Little extras
There are little things you have to do before you move oversees. They are small but should nevertheless not be forgotten. Things like changing your address at the bank, ending all subscriptions and deliveries to your old address, and saying goodbye to friends. There are lots of little things you need to do before you move and it’s a good idea to sort them out before you leave your home country.
