Top 5 Moving Supplies You Will Need When Moving Furniture

Packing, unpacking, finding a place, making a down payment, getting acquainted with a completely new area, city or even country – moving can be an exhausting experience. No wonder so many people move only once or twice in a month!

If you plan on moving furniture and if you don’t want to (or cannot) hire professional removals services, you should definitely know that there are certain supplies you will absolutely need. You may think that you are saving money by not investing in these supplies, but the truth is that they can save you time, money and they can even lie at the very basis of your health and physical integrity.

You don’t have to be a body builder to be able to move around heavy items like furniture and appliances and you don’t even have to work for a professional removals service provider. As long as you have the right moving supplies and as long as you are in adequate physical condition, you can do this on your own.

Which are these removal supplies you need so much? We have put together the 5 most important ones in the following list:

1. Dollies. Sometimes, it is the little things that move the big mountains – and this is the case for house removals and/or office removals as well. Dollies come in as extremely helpful for those of you planning to move furniture around the house (or away from the house, for that matter). If you have hired a man and van company only and if you did not want (too many of) them to help you out, definitely invest in a good, adequate sized dolly. It will save you a lot of effort!

2. Straps. Again, moving furniture is not always about strength as it is about “outsmarting” the heavy weight. It is much easier to drag heavy items around and to strap them when you have to lift them than to lift them with your bare hands. Moving straps do not cost a lot and they can be found at almost any removals service that provides moving supplies as well.

3. Moving gloves. Yes, you do need moving gloves. They will help you “grab” the heavy items much better and they will help you prevent having them slip from your hands (and hurting yourself and the others around you).

4. Labels. Aside from the heavy lifting part of moving furniture, it is also important that you organize things properly. Some of your furniture items are probably built to be transported “piece by piece” and this means you will definitely need to organize them properly (so that you can assembly them back together once they reach their destination). Also, you might need labels for drawers and for doors (to know which one goes where), as well as for nails and various other small parts that can get easily lost.

5. Cleaning supplies. Moving furniture (and moving in general) is a messy business. Regardless of whether you live in rent (and have to hand in the keys of an apartment or house in perfect condition) or you live in your own house that you have just sold, leaving the place clean behind is extremely important. At the same time though, keeping your own personal assets clean into the new home is also important so make sure not to forget your furniture cleaning supplies as well. Preferably, don’t start cleaning any of your furniture items before you are all settled in because you may end up having to do it a second time as well.
