Anticipate Problems to Make Your Student Move a Better Move

The key to a successful student move is avoiding hassle. This is easier said than done because you may find, even if you have experience of moving already, things won't go according to plan and in addition there will be a number of people out there, such as Internet providers, energy companies and your landlord, who will be only too glad to put obstacles in your way to having a stress free move. So, be prepared and this doesn't just mean making sure you have a check list and you defrost the freezer but take extra care to making sure people like your landlord can't find a way to not give you your deposit back.

The most obvious way to do that is to hire an end of tenancy cleaning firm. It doesn't even need to be, specifically, an end of tenancy cleaning company but certainly a professional cleaning firm that knows how to do a good job in getting a property looking at its very best. There are some good economic cleaning firms out there and by shopping around you can get a good price which means, basically, you're not spending all your deposit on paying a cleaning company to clean your apartment to get your deposit back, if you know what I mean. Of course, you could always do it yourself and if that is the case then you need to be a professional yourself and be prepared to do the job as it should be done.

You can look online for cleaning tips and on how to clean places such as the oven, the fridge as well as those other slightly unpleasant jobs in the bathroom.

If it does occur that your landlord turns round to you and gives some incredible reason why you don't deserve to have your deposit back then there is a number of actions you can take. Although, some of these actions may be illegal don't be tempted to go down that route. Rather, you can go to a place such as Citizens Advice and, as always nowadays, there is so much information online and this includes testaments from people who have been in the same position and what they have done to get the deposit back.

Also, make sure all your bills are paid up-to-date. This is an area which needs to be double-checked and above all you must keep your paperwork in order and keep receipts. When it comes to hiring the removal firm, whether it's a man and van or something else, make sure the price you end up paying is the price you were originally quoted. There are a lot of good removal firms out there who will give you good advice and simply want you to have the best move possible.

Remember, it's in their interest to make sure your student move is done correctly because your word-of-mouth praise, or online praise, is important to them.

So defrost the freezer, clean your room or apartment thoroughly, say cheerio to the friends you like and do everything else you need to do. In addition, try to second-guess potential problems that could happen. Many of them may seem unlikely to happen but many of them could still do so. Moving for a student can be just as treacherous as it is for anyone else. Have your wits about you, be aware of potential problems and it's more likely that those problems may not happen. Even when they do happen, you know you'll be prepared for them which means you're making extra sure you're going to have a moving day that ends up a success no matter what.
