Make Your Student Move Meet A Student’s Budget

As you know, moving can be an incredibly expensive task and if you are not careful, it will end up costing you an arm and a leg. Let’s face it, not many people have money to throw away, so most people are looking for a bargain. And it’s even more stressful for students who need cheap removals desperately. Student moving is hard enough without all the expenses piled on top of it. However, there is a way you can make it a lot less expensive. Here, we’ve piled together some handy tips to make your student removals cheap and to meet your strict and tight student’s budget. You are welcome!

1. Sell stuff you don’t need

You are bound to have bags and bags of stuff you no longer use. A lot of us are guilty of hoarding our things but if you never use them, what is the point in wasting space keeping them? And you could earn some money from them. Have a clear out, be honest with yourself about what you use and what you don’t, and start selling things on Ebay or get involved in a car boot sale. For the things that won’t sell, give them away to friends or family or recycle them. This way, you’ll earn some cash to save and you’ll save money on space.

2. Free packing materials

Packing can be an expensive game, especially as you need so many materials like boxes, bags, bubble wrap, tape, and labels, and more. However, you don’t have to waste your money on going out and buying those things. You can get them for free. Pay a visit to your local food store and ask if they have any spare boxes or containers. Most supermarkets and even small food stores have lots of spare boxes lying round and they’d be happy for you to take them off their hands. As for a replacement for bubble wrap and cellophane, opt for old socks, clothing, sheets, cloths, towels and anything you can think of.

3. Friends

What are friends for? They are there to help you and if you ask them for help with your student relocation, they’ll be more than happy to help you. You could always help them in return or treat them to a snack at Pizza hut if you want to show your appreciation. Either way, the more hands the better so ask for their help in carrying loading and unloading things, as well as packing. It will be much cheaper than hiring professional movers.

4. Man and Van

If your family or friends don’t have a big enough vehicle they can provide you with for your move, consider using the rather affordable and down to earth man and a van service. It’s one of the best removal services around for being cheap and easy, as well as very quick. Obviously, you’ll have to do your research in order to find the best deals but it’s definitely a good idea.

These handy tips will ensure your move is as cost effective as possible. It doesn’t have to cost the earth, provided that you take these minor precautions.

The vast majority of students are restricted to a tight budget, which makes it so hard when it comes to moving, as it can be so expensive if you’re not careful. With these tips, you can have the cheap and easy move you long for.
